Water Resources Engineering Leader
Confluence is a small and energetic consulting firm recognized nationally for our work in aquatic habitat restoration and water resources engineering. For 25 years, we have assisted landowners, government agencies, and watershed groups plan, implement, and monitor hundreds of remarkable and challenging projects. Headquartered in scenic Bozeman, MT, we are recognized as experts in stream, river, and wetland restoration across the nation. We are currently recruiting an experienced engineer to help lead our team and contribute to Confluence’s mission of providing expertise that promotes the wise stewardship of our natural world.
This role provides the right individual an opportunity to help us build a better environment while helping our team of scientists, engineers, and construction experts excel at their work. As Confluence’s Engineering Group Leader, the person in this position will be promoted as an expert in their field, whether in stream and river restoration, dam removal, fish passage and screening, hydraulic modeling, bank stabilization, irrigation diversion design, or water management. This position is considered a director-level role in the business and will be provided opportunities to build upon a top-notch engineering team that provides a variety of niche, in-house services and team with strategic partners to build more comprehensive project capabilities.
What you can expect in an Engineering Manager’s role at Confluence:
- Oversight of design and implementation of stream and river restoration, dam removal, bank stabilization, aquatic organism passage, wetland mitigation, floodplain studies, and other water resources related projects
- Lead teams in performing channel stability analyses, hydraulic modeling, sediment transport modeling, field data collection, and analyses

You’ll demonstrate the following:
- 8+ years of applicable experience in water resources engineering, stream restoration, river restoration, bank stabilization, dam removal hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping, storm water, wastewater, fish passage, or other similar fields
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software, and topographic surveying
- Professional Engineering License in MT and/or other states
- Ability to contribute to creating new business opportunities by leveraging the company’s and your network
- Ability to manage and give guidance to the team
- Ability to successfully manage and execute water resources engineering projects
- Ability to perform quality control of designs, permit applications, and reports

Base compensation is DOE. Base range is $125,000-150,000 with very strong bonus potential as well.
